Kathy’s Story:
Lose It For Life has helped me to change how I look at exercise and food which has made me successful at improving my fitness level and losing weight. My story is like many others; when I reached my 20’s I focused on my career and lost whatever incentive I had to exercise which progressed to excessive weight gain and loss of energy. I have joined and quit at least 10 weight loss programs and 5 gyms over the years, only to gain it all back, plus more. I had succeeded in excelling in the ultimate yo-yo weight loss plan; Lose-gain more; lose-gain more; lose-gain more! I was getting nowhere, fast. I had read many books on fitness and dieting, and I understood the principles and what I needed to do, but I felt I could not do it and could not push myself. With Lose It For Life, the focus is about what you can do, not what you can’t do. Lou and Patty are the perfect combination of strength and support that I needed to get exercise and the proper nutrition back into my life. The trainers, Derek, Paul, Sarah, Lou and Stephen, all focus on what you can do and where you need to go with what you have to reach your goals. For me it was endurance and strength. I had become so out of shape that I dreaded starting the program, but once I got going and improved my fitness level it was easier to stick with it and reach my goals. In fact, I was able to complete the Wildflower Triathlon this past May, although it was a challenge, but I had my trainers and my fellow Lose It For Lifers for support the whole time. I highly recommend this program to anyone, at any fitness level, who needs to change the direction their life has taken due to their inability to stick with a food plan and/or an exercise program. Lose it For Life has changed my life!
Carolyn’s Story:
My name is Carolyn Elliott. I am a woman near 50 years old and in menopausal years.
After always being thin all of my life, I watched my weight begin to creep up, little by little. I tried juice fasts, weight-watchers, and calorie counting to try to drop the 10 pounds I had gained over a 3 year period. I was always hungry. Nothing worked. I hiked or walked daily – 4 to 6 miles a day. Still nothing budged the scales lower. I was frustrated as I had this mid section that wouldn’t leave.
Then I heard about the “Lose it for Life Program” at Kennedy’s and met with Lou. She immediately knew the remedy for me; cardio, circuit training and cleaner nutrition. I signed up and it’s been the best program. At 10 weeks, I’ve lost those 10 pounds, I feel and look fabulous, and best of all, I’m eating more food than before I started the program. I’m never hungry now. Best of all, I look great in my bikini and I have abs!
I highly recommend the program whether you need to lose 10 pounds or 300. This program WORKS.
Thank you Lou and Kennedy’s

Alice’s Story:
Because of my life’s stress and menopause I was 54 and fat and couldn’t drop the weight. I tried making meals and eating just half. No weight came off. I had a hard time exercising because my blood pressure had gone up. (I was afraid I was going to have a heart attack.) I hated going to birthday parties or weddings or having people over because I couldn’t fit into my nice clothes and I would eat cake and champagne and end up fatter. LIFL gave me direction by occupying my time with classes that were good for ME. At first I was embarrassed, because I was a out-of-control fat lady. But I got over it as I saw myself improve. I never once felt like I was “dieting”. I shopped for groceries…made myself big meals, ate well…loved the hounding advice from the nutritionist to “always eat”….”pre-emptive eating” she would say…”eat before your hungry”. That gave me the OK to eat frequently which is what I love to do. I was never hungry and was shocked every week when I would weight in and be 3 pounds lighter. I lost 30 pounds eating well and having fun exercising. The important thing is… I feel in control and knowledgeable of my metabolism. It feels good. What a great program. Loved it. Thanks Lou!!

John’s Story:
I was skeptical before I started the Lose it for Life SLO program. I knew I needed to lose weight. I knew I was out of shape. I thought I was getting arthritis in my hips, because they didn’t work as well as I thought they should. So, when this program came up. My wife and I talked and I decided it was time to do something about it. My skepticism came from having tried a few weight loss diets in the past and my lack of dedication to a consistent work-out, I thought there would be minimal success. Boy, was I wrong.
During the program, we were given circuit training, food and exercise education, group counseling, and a camaraderie that I never expected. The education sessions showed me how food affects my overall wellness. I never thought about the connection because I ate for pleasure and didn’t think much about how it affects everything else. The exercises were circuit training and were very challenging. The circuits usually consisted of 6 – 8 stations of one minute each. I realized how out of shape I was when I couldn’t finish the minute per station. But, as I stuck with it, I progressed to be able to finish each station and want more. I worked out with the program 3 times per week and did some hiking and walking my dogs 3 – 4 times per week, as well. We had a challenge exercise each Saturday. I saw significant improvement in my ability to perform the challenges each week.
The program has now been over for two weeks. I have now lost over 30 pounds and feel 20 years younger. I lost 30 pounds during the 12 weeks of the program. My blood pressure is 10 points lower. I lost 6 inches off my waist and the jowls under my chin are gone. I plan to continue the exercise program and fat-loss lifestyle for the rest of my life. I have a goal to grow old with my wife and I would like to see 90 years of age being healthy and sharp.
Thank you to my wife for her support, Lou Ferreira for putting this program together, her belief that I could do it and her “chirping” in my ear when I needed encouragement, Sara Bergheger and Derek D’Ambrosio for being encouraging and positive during our workouts, Patty Bonafede for her education and guidance on food and it’s affects, and Alise Piete for her guidance through the emotional time we all experienced.

Frank’s Story:
The Lose it For Life program kicks @ss! … And it kicked my fat @ss into a healthier person. As a typical college student, I gained the obligatory “freshman 15” over my college years. Eventually packing-on another 10 pounds during my various “your butt doesn’t leave this chair!” jobs after college. I was truly amazed that I could lose nearly all the excess weight I gained over twenty years within a short three month period. The LIFL program has transformed my life. I am now eating healthier and exercising regularly (and actually enjoying it). More than just a diet program, LIFL gave me the tools, and confidence, to continue to lead a healthy lifestyle. It’s unfortunate that we’re not given a ‘users manual’ for our bodies but LIFL is as close as you’ll come to getting one. A special thank-you to the entire Lose it For Life team … THANKS!
